Yes you can. Great meat available to braai.
Very good the prices. We were 4 people and it was under R300 with cooldrinks
We had great service reasonable prices classic Ireland don't miss it
We will have to ask them. I know Tant Malie's daughter took over the place and is running it. But very good food available and you can braai there you buy meat and salads there and they supply the hot coals and brasi at your table.
They are open everyday of the week.
They open 8am every day of the week, not sure about xmas day though. You can call them at 087 802 8403
Love this place! Great history and staff. The best biltong and droë wors. Highly recommend visiting when in the area.
A sumptuous breakfast at a place that is a piece of South African heritage. I'll go back again soon. Highly recommended.
The bokkoms really smells bad when you enter. Almost unbearable. Food is good.
Very nice little shop.. set up is great.. people are beyond friendly.. definetly a good stop!
Tant Malie se Winkel has been around for 100 years, but it shows. There's tons of character and interesting antique items to look at, but you can see that the infrastructure needs some work. We only went to the shop, but they didn't have any bread.
Food good . Atmosphere very old fashioned.
Amazing!!! Good food, Good service ,tranquil.Brilliant guys keep the good work up.Pie and cheese cake best of the best
Poor service and management doesn't care when waiters charge patrons for items they didn't order. We were overcharged, and only after going directly to the manager onsite and getting the waitress to show us the original till slip, was it found out they loaded extra items on our bill. This place needs some serious introspection as customer service seems to be last on their list. Dont even waste your time, drive past and avoid the disappointment.
It is a nice place. We ate breakfast here. The prices are a bit high for the portions that you get, but either than that, enjoyed the outdoor seating.
Heritage shop close to hartebeespoort dam.If in the area pop in to see some nostalgic items.
This is a beautiful historic farm stall and restaurant, it is a must for anyone spending time in Hartebeespoort.Tan malie se winkel became renown for it's service where you can pay for marinated meat and braai it. There is an ala carte menu which is great but not as remarkable as the braaing. You can combine the two in part by ordering some things off the menu and braaing others, such as braaing mains and gettings drinks and desert off the menu.Braaing is only available on weekends and public holidays otherwise you need to book 2 days in advance. The establishment is very Afrikaans but enjoyable for people of all cultures.
It's an institution almost a hundred years old. It oozes character but some maintenance would do the place good as would fixing up the driveway. It is awkward to negotiate on a motorbike. The food was great though. Breakfast took 15 minutes to arrive but everything was fresh and tasty.
This is one of my childhood favourites. Good old home cooking with a nostalgic flair. The serve home baked bread and home made jam.
Interesting place, nice food and friendly staff.
Excellent food. Very good prices. Takes you back in time
Very interesting place to spot out
Excellent service. Good people
When I entered the establishment, I was overwhelmed by the smell of bokkums (dried fish). It might be something I don't understand and perhaps that is the market/need there, but my instinct says that is going to be bad for business. I think it should be advertised in front, but stored far away from the entrance. Even if they move it today, that smell is going to linger for a while. My family enjoyed their Coke-floats.The staff is friendly and welcoming, and the service is good.
A mainstay in the Harties restaurant scene this place has seen better days. The strong scent of bilking overwhelms you as you enter. The building is quaint with a lot of unusual knickknacks around. We went downstairs where a very lonely looking buffet was waiting for customers. We ordered a milktert and lemon meringue which came as a single tart with Icecream. Not the best milktert I have ever had but the meringue was good. As was the lime milkshake. I will not be back
A must see, pop in, grab a quick bite and have a look at all the trinkets and grab some home make jams and breads. Delicious!
Great quality of an assortment of goodies, biscuits, sauces, jams, breads and other treats. Definitely a treat for any sweet or savoury tooth.
Went on a Tuesday afternoon. It was very quiet so service was prompt. Decent food but the venue needs some renovations as it looks a bit run down.
Everything just amazing place stayed the same great place since I was a kid
I like this spot, good food, baked goods are tasty and dried fruit always the best
Meat very fresh and tasty and proper maize pap! Staff very friendly and helpful
It is one kind of very old one historic place located just next to Hartbeespoort dam tunnels. Fantastic services fantastic homemade food and really amazing place for everyone.
Love the bread. Eating area is nice and calm.
Food was fantastic. Waiter was a bit too chatty. Even though we understand the idea of keeping the look and feel, the place needs some paint. Prices are pretty good. I would go again in a couple of months.
Not attractive to attract people. Inside there is a lot of history.
The food was not bad at all, but the cuppachino was hideous. You would think by now they would serve a descent cuppachino and not kesater-water with a dash of canned whipped cream on top that disintegrates after the second sip. Very runned down and the worst was the dried fish (bokoms) that hangs at the main entrance and the stench that immediately puts you off when you walk in.
Lovely little spot and very friendly staff
I just love this place. Brings back memories from days many years ago!
Tant Malie was huge in the 90's and early 2000, was a nice nostalgic return to a place I held dear but sad that they havent thought of updating in such a way that they can still keep its authentic style. Nothing has changed. Coffee shop on verandah felt a bit sterile with none of that nostalgic atmosphere
It's terrible, outdated smelly, tables sticky, food terrible. Not worth it. Expected more as internet misleading. Don't waste your petrol or time.
Poor coffee and food overpriced. No wonder staff complained that business is down
Abigail was ons waiter and her service was excellent. The food was of very poor quality. The patty on the burger looked like it came from a box and was freezed for months
Lovely little place. It's amazing
Nice. A walk through the past
A cool spot to visit if you are out this side. Had a great burger and chips. There is an option to choose your own meat and they set up a braai for you so you can cook. It's much bigger than it looks. Staff were very friendly!
Sad that they don't sell as much as they used to. But still remains a great family tradition to stop over when you're in the area. Most amazing honey comb
Nice place to visit and more people should stop and have lunch. Need a little TLC. A nice big sign might help to inform people that their is a restaurant and activities might also help.
Used to be popular but not much to choose from
A traditional resturant that serves mainly South African dishes. A landmark in Hartebeesport dam.
Coffee to start the dayWe stopped at Tan Malie with the intention of having breakfast as part of the day trip in Hartebeespoort dam.The shop has a variety of canned goods, freshly baked bread and some curios. You can choose between an indoor or outside table and they also have tables on different levels, with the lower level leading to a garden-type environment. We decided to just have coffee at the restaurant and explore more before having breakfast. The lady that assisted was young and bit unsure of herself, including the menu, but very sweet in her approach and assistance. The coffee came in old fashioned mugs and was tasty and well prepared.
Good, traditional food and friendly staff. Also relatively inexpensive.
Cute quaint old-world charm. Good outdoor seating so you feel like you're in the bush.
A nice atmosphere with a beautiful garden and setting. Nice old style curio shop. The lunch in some aspects was good but in others very disappointing. The oxtail and burgers were very nice, but the tripe, and kaissings was very disappointing. The dessert was good. I recommend the lemon meringue.I recommend coming here for coffee and dessert, but maybe not lunch.
If you like Afrikaans history and old items, this is an interesting place to visit. Prices are too high for me! A piece of cheesecake for R65!!
Everyone knows Tant Malie's, and if you don't you should.. Great bakery, eatery and service.. An institution in Harties..
Good stopover. Wide choices of food and drinks
